This year White Table Catering had the honour of hosting the wedding industry table at Dîner en Blanc Vancouver alongside an incredible vendor team.
As soon as we were invited to host the industry table, we knew we had to make it memorable! We wanted to spoil the members of our industry as it was such a busy wedding season. We wanted to give the members of our industry the opportunity to enjoy and participate in the exclusivity and one-of-a-kind experience that Dîner en Blanc is known for.
About Dîner en Blanc
Dîner en Blanc is an international event famous for its all-white celebrations. During the event, attendees share a meal in a temporary dining set up in a public space, all dressed in white. This elegant affair is known for its large scale, grandiose celebrations and surprise secret locations. Each year, hundreds of thousands of guests from Paris to Buenos Aires and even Vancouver join in a night of tradition and splendour.
An All-White Celebration
Carly spearheaded the creative direction of the table. She worked collaboratively with some key Vancouver wedding vendors including Lux Affairs as a decor partner to help bring the vision to life. The White Table team produced an exquisite event and treated our guests to an unforgettable dining experience.
The Inspiration Behind The Design
The main inspiration for the wedding industry table at Dîner en Blanc was the Hamptons meets Vancouver. The Hamptons have elegant all-white garden parties where guests play croquet, so croquet was an underlying theme in the design. This theme resonated throughout the event, from the table logo with croquet mallets to a place where guests could play croquet.
Carly wanted to bring the “inside out” with a table design inspired by a modern traditional home. Carly chose a white plaster console table from Bespoke Decor with large vases as the end piece to the table; her intention was to mimic a home entryway that you would find in a luxury Hamptons home. Adding a custom-made flower box sign, lush white florals and mixed pillar candles were the perfect elevated details to welcome guests into the space.
Modern white lamps from Studio McGee were a key focal point of the tablescape and were spread along the 50-foot-plus guest table. As the sunset on the secret location and after guests enjoyed the famous sparkler moment, the lamps and gorgeous pillar candles from Lux Affairs provided a warm glow down the dinner table.
As an additional way to bring the “inside out” in the design, we used an elegant wallpaper print as inspiration for the invitations, bar signage, and the decal on the bar.
Unforgettable Details
One of our favourite details of the evening was having personalized maps for all our guests to open simultaneously as the secret location was revealed. After meeting at an initial meeting point near the secret location, our guests all paraded to their final destination for an evening of celebration. Led by long-time attendee and industry friend, Angela from The Near and Dear, with flags in hand and guided by a large flag featuring the table logo, guests paraded the streets of Vancouver. We wanted to build up the excitement with a big entrance for the group and an Instagrammable moment when they all arrived.
Upon arriving at the now-disclosed secret location, guests were treated to an unforgettable evening with Dîner en Blanc traditions and industry friends. For dinner, we wanted to create a menu that was representative of the West Coast but also aesthetically appealing and complimentary to the tablescape. Whenever possible, we tried to select menu items that were all White, which proved to be a really fun challenge. After some passed canapes, our guests sat down for an exquisite meal that blended the best of family-style service with plated dinner service.
As the evening progressed, guests had the opportunity to play croquet on our very own croquet lawn. This photo-ready moment was finished with hand-painted and custom-wrapped croquet mallets in the corresponding wallpaper prints. At the end of the evening, each guest got to take home spa and beauty gifts from our generous vendors. Our team had bags ready for guests to fill with all their goodies before heading home.
The Team That Brought It To Life
Carrying the theme in every detail was important to us, and that’s why we hand-selected an incredible vendor team filled with a beautiful inventory and immense talent.
Raj and her team from Lux Affairs was our decor partner and, as always, are a blast to work with. They are truly an amazing team and did an incredible job at bringing it all to life!
Folk and Fairie made magic with the florals. We wanted flower arrangements to all be grouped by one type of flower, creating a modern and luxurious vibe that you would find in a luxury home in the Hamptons or hotel lobby. Their arrangements for the entry were exactly what Carly had envisioned and helped transform the space.
The stationery by Making Memories and signage by Box Not Box was absolute perfection, and every detail was on point.
Sie Collection supplied white Bentwood chairs that felt very French country meets garden party and delicate dinnerware that suited the theme to a tee.
A&B Party Time provided traditional silver flatware that felt very much like they were from your “home entertaining pieces.”
Working alongside incredible Vancouver wedding vendors to bring the industry Dîner en Blanc table together was an honour and so much fun! From the creative design process to the event, every moment was thoughtfully curated and a pleasure to pull together. We look forward to many more opportunities to bring our industry together in a creative environment!
