An Urban Summer Wedding At The Wallace Venue

Nestled in the heart of the historical shipyards district of North Vancouver is The Wallace Venue. This modern and industrial space is one of the newer Vancouver wedding venues in the city and was an idealistic blank canvas for Kristen and Riley to customize for their wedding day. As a preferred caterer, our journey with The Wallace Venue has been nothing short of amazing, and we are thrilled to share the story of Kristen and Riley’s extraordinary wedding day that unfolded within its captivating walls.

Endless Possibilities At The Wallace Venue

For Kristen and Riley, “It was important… that [their] guests didn’t have any waiting periods or travel day-of so [they] prioritized finding a venue where [they] could host the whole day and are so glad [that they] did!”

The venue, with its modern and industrial aesthetic, provided the perfect backdrop of the Vancouver city skyline, Vancouver harbour and the majestic North Shore mountains. The rooftop ocean-view terrace is truly a gem on its own. This space is an idyllic setting for both the ceremony and the cocktail hour, offering a panoramic view that captures the essence of Vancouver’s beauty.

Indoors, The Wallace Venue boasts a historic charm thanks to its industrial ceiling, blank white walls and tall floor-to-ceiling windows. This bright space is perfect for hosting friends and family for any year-round celebration.

A Summer Wedding in Vancouver

Kristen and Riley’s wedding took place on a beautiful July day and started with an air of elegance that set the tone for the rest of the celebrations. The wedding party was dressed in timeless all-black attire, with the bridesmaids in black floor-length gowns and the groomsmen in distinguished black tuxedos.

The couple’s decision to have their first look at The Wallace Venue added an extra layer of sentimentality to the day. Against the backdrop of the venue’s industrial-chic ambiance, the couple shared a private moment that set the tone for the emotional journey that awaited them.

Having time with their guests was important to the couples, so they opted to capture all their photos before the ceremony. This thoughtful choice allowed them to bask in the joy of the cocktail reception, creating cherished memories with friends and family.

The Ceremony

The rooftop ceremony was a breathtaking affair, with a circular arch adorned with modern, loose, and billowing florals framing the couple against the city skyline. Kristen and Riley’s exchange of vows was filled with raw emotion that left not a dry eye in the house and was a true testament to this couple’s genuine love.

The Reception

After their rooftop ceremony, guests enjoyed an assortment of passed canapes, including some popular favourites such as our Pork Bao Buns and our Tuna Tataki Kala Til. Our bartenders helped start the party off with an assortment of wines and summer cocktails.

Inside, the reception unfolded with a modern and minimalist design. Guests sat at long tables adorned with white linens, black cutlery, white china, modern black chairs, pillar candles, and delicate bud vases. While modern stationery and plexiglass table numbers added a touch of contemporary flair to each table. At the head table, a custom neon sign served as a striking backdrop and a memento for the couple to take home.

The newlyweds treated their guests to a delectable three-course plated meal. Their menu began with our house-made Focaccia Bread, which was then followed by a seasonal Burrata, Grapefruit & Tomato Salad. To finish the meal off guests were served a Poulet Chasseurs as the entree. They were then treated to a variety of donuts by a local donut shop.

The couple shared a romantic first dance as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the rooftop terrace. It was a moment suspended in time, as the couple was surrounded by the love of family and friends in a picturesque setting.

An Unforgettable Vendor Team

Thanks to Stephanie at Sweetheart Events, Kristen and Riley’s wedding planning process was a stress-free journey. Together, they curated a vendor team that executed flawlessly and felt like an extension of the couple’s closest friends. For this reason, The Wallace Venue is by far one of our favourite Vancouver wedding venues to work at. Thanks to the collaboration of a professional wedding planner and an impeccable wedding venue, we brought this couple’s dream wedding to life.

Reflecting On A Modern Love Story

With its historic charm and modern allure, the Wallace Venue proved to be more than just a wedding venue for Kirsten and Riley. It was a sacred space where love was shared and cherished memories were made. As we reflect on the elegance and emotion that unfolded on this summer’s day, we are humbled by our role in each of our couple’s wedding days.
